CLUB PROFILE
Established now for over 30 years, the club has become well known
both locally and nationally for the high standard of its photographic
work. There is a wide range of abilities from beginners to
experienced photographers, who take slides and also produce their
own prints.
The club is affiliated to The East Anglian Federation of Photographic
Societies (the EAF)
with over 125 member clubs, and through the EAF to The Photographic
Alliance of Great Britain (the PAGB)
which represents all the Federations of Great Britain. The
club is well represented in the EAF with two of its founder members
serving on the EAF Committee and one having served as President
of the EAF.
Our club meets each Tuesday evening at 7.30 pm in term time from
September to May at Lode Chapel, Lode. It is therefore well
positioned to serve the local community, attracting members from
Cambridge, Newmarket, Mildenhall, Soham and beyond, as well as all
the villages between. It has a friendly atmosphere and new members
are made welcome and beginners are given any assistance needed.
Throughout the year the club invites guest speakers to give lectures
on a wide range of topics from photographic techniques and printing
through to digital photography. Twice the club has hosted
lectures from Heather Angel, the internationally renowned Nature
Photographer.
The club also runs a range of both internal and inter-club competitions,
in slides, colour or black & white prints, and actually represented
the EAF in national finals held at Warwick University, against the
other Federations of the PAGB.
